A Pound of Romaine

Eating green stuff is so much easier than it used to be for me. Try this one: almost an entire head of romaine, cut up as you wish: in little pieces, in strips, torn, etc. Add a medium sized zucchini, cut into bite-size pieces, add a few stalks of chopped celery, add a green onion or two, some diced bell pepper. Serve with Ah-Ma-Gosh Cilantro Guacamole and a side of beans. You can squirt a lime's juices all over the bed of greens, too.

Yes. I have done this before very recently.
Yes. It will happen again very shortly.

Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. (John 15:13 ESV)

Jesus gave His life so that we could live. The most profound example of selfless love in all of history (not to mention God giving His only Son). This demonstrates love in that He didn't worry about how much it would hurt, Christ didn't ask one of His followers of they wanted to die instead. He paid the penalty of a painful, long-suffered death, sparring all of us from feeling the physical agony that we deserve.

How can we live this way? We don't have to step in front of every flying bullet necessarily. We can, however, pray that God's Spirit would work in us so that we may know what a life of self-sacrifice looks like. Lord, help me to be selfless, to put everyone else's needs before mine, to reflect Christ's love by loving more than I think I am able to.
