Because when you sprout a bunch of quinoa and lentils, and aren't brave enough to eat them as they are (in their raw, high-live-nutrient glory) it's just easier to throw them in a food processor with Italian seasoning, ground flax seed, some water and vital wheat gluten. Am I right?
Disclaimer: I have made these guys about 12 times, and I think I post the same recipe each time. Here's to repetitiveness causing a blog reader to see it for the first time and end up switching to a whole food, vegan diet and reversing their heart disease! (Possibly?)
Recipe based loosely off of this one. My changes
1 cup lentils, cooked (or raw, sprouted)
1 cup quinoa, cooked
1 tsp Italian seasoning
1 flax egg (1 tbsp ground flaxseed, 3 tbsp water, whisk with a fork and let sit for minimum 5 minutes)
1 tbsp vital wheat gluten
1 tbsp nutritional yeast
Oat flour by the tablespoons until desired consistency is reached.
Combine all ingredients in a food processor. Empty into a medium size bowl and let it sit for up to 30 minutes in the fridge. This lets the gluten activate and the flax bind everything together, otherwise you would be left with a sticky mess. Roll into mini balls. Bake at 375* F on parchment paper lined pizza trays for 15 minutes, roll 'em over and get that otherside nice and crisp. I found this works super well since there is no sticking thanks to parchment paper and the holes in the pizza pan really leave these guys soft, yet crisp on the outside.
"Worthy are You, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for You created all things, and by Your will they existed and were created." (Revelation 4:11 ESV)
This is so powerful! Our Lord and God created all things, all living, moving, existing things are from His hands. I like being reminded of His wonderful creation by saying, "God" when I see something outside made by Him, and "man" when I see something made by man. It really puts it all into perspective: God made the trees, bushes, grass, rocks, sky, clouds, food and all animals and people. Man made the houses, the cars, the buildings. But God's creation has life, it breaths because He chose it to. It is vibrant and complex, unable to be recreated by man. And all that man has made? Do you know where man got the ability to make anything at all? From His creator, The Lord of lords and King over all kings. God Himself breathed life into man and has given Him the ability to construct houses, engineer cars and airplanes, design buildings.
By HIS WILL they existed and were created. To God be all glory, honor and power. For He gave us life and the life that surrounds us!
