Seattle Date Day

My beloved friends, let us continue to love each other since love comes from God. Everyone who loves is born of God and experiences a relationship with God. The person who refuses to love doesn't know the first thing about God, because God is love—so you can't know him if you don't love. This is how God showed his love for us: God sent his only Son into the world so we might live through him. This is the kind of love we are talking about—not that we once upon a time loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to clear away our sins and the damage they've done to our relationship with God.

1 John 4:7-10 MSG

I so, so enjoyed this translation of 1 John 4:7-10 - the message is so clear, so impacting! Let us continue to love each other since love comes from our incredible, powerful, gracious God. When you receive Jesus Christ into your heart as your personal Lord and Savior, you are born again and experience a personal relationship with God. Once you know God, you are filled with His love and in turn are able to pour out that love onto the world around you. It's inevitable since GOD IS LOVE and He is dwelling in you! We have His love and it's such an intense gift. Since He loves us so much He gave us Jesus, who forgives our sins and restores our relationship with the King. We are redeemed in Him, friends. We are free!

One of the pieces of advice you will be given often as a married couple that just gone and had a baby is to make date nights a priority. This is so, so important because if you focus only on your kids, it will be come second nature to put your marriage aside and become overwhelmed with being parents. Sweet, right? Not so. For when them babies grow up to be adults and leave the house for bigger and better things, you are left with a human in your house that isn't your kid, but indeed is your spouse, and you won't know what to do with them since you hardly paid attention to them for the past 18 years or so. Focus on Jesus, focus on your marriage, then focus on your babies. Advice taken.

Praise the Lord for the husband and friend He has placed in my life. Our days together are such a blessing!
